Effective Prayer Lesson #3

Effective Prayer
teaching by Judy on May 13, 2017
Class #3
Open: Hallelujah: Sing
Prayer
Review:
Who can talk to God: anyone who has surrendered to Jesus Christ
1. Knows he is a sinner
2. Repents
3. Ask God to forgive him
4. Prays to ask Jesus Christ into his heart
Then: read the Bible, carry verses with you; pray; put on the whole armor of
God each day; pray Psalm 91; listen to God; journal what He says; find a church
where Jesus is alive and Jesus Christ and the Word of God are the focus;
tell others of Jesus Christ; live in expectation of what God will do in and through
your life each day.
Prepare your testimony: use three verses and tell your story around those
three verses, focusing on Jesus Christ and God’s Word
Chapter One of Effective Prayer by Jack and  Judy Hartman:
God is absolutely delighted every time you call on Him!
“…the prayer of the upright is His delight,” (Proverbs 15:8)
Wake up each morning realizing that God will be delighted the moment you
speak to Him. “
Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,
that we should be called the sons of God; therefore the world knoweth us not,
because it knew him not,” (I John 3:1).
What do you lose when you do not pray?
How does your cell phone work when it is not charged? The Israelites’ manna was full of worms the next day. What is your most important appointment each day?
Chapter Two: God is all about relationship, especially yours with Him
God has secrets!
“The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him; and He
will show them His covenant,” (Psalm 25:14).
“And we know the the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding
that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in
his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life, (I John 5:20)
Our book, A Close and Intimate Relationship with God, is a journey to getting
to know God better.
Chapter Three:
How do we release God’s supernatural power through prayer? James 5:16-18;
Ephesians 6:10; Philippians 3:10
“For with God nothing shall be impossible,” (Luke 1:37).
Chapter Four:
How do we know that God answers prayer? Psalm 37:4; Proverbs 10:24:
Matthew 7:7–8; Mark 11:24; John 14:14; John 15:7; John 16:23; John
16:24; I John 3:22
Chapter Five: How should we approach God’s Word? Isaiah 66:2; Psalm 119:35
How do we show God that we love Him? John 14:23
Chapter Six:
How do we hinder God? James 4:2-3
What is the relationship between your forgiving other people and the
effectiveness of your prayer life? Mark 11:25-26
Chapter Seven:
What does God tell us to pray for? I Timothy 2:1-2
For all men; for kings and all those in authority;
Would someone please find out the names of the people in President Trump’s
family and Vice–President Pence’s family? Would someone please list the names of the Senators? Of those in the house of Representatives; of those on the Supreme Court? Of the main leaders in our state government, including representatives of our county.
Of our pastors, our church leaders, our elders.
We will compile a list and make it available to you.
I would like for us to take the kidnapped girls from Nigeria as a prayer focus. 110 remain in captivity.
Chapter Eight: How often should we pray? David: Psalm 55:17: Joshua 1:8;
Psalm 1:2-3; Psalm 113:3
Each lady share her praise report and prayer request, about two minutes
each
Close in prayer
